McKinney Antique Lumber Reclamation

About McKinney Antique Lumber Reclamation, LLC

McKinney Antique Lumber Reclamation is a small company started in 2001 by two brothers, Daniel and Mike McKinney. Both brothers, born and raised in Western North Carolina, share a keen interest in Applachain heritage.

This interest, coupled with their interest in wood, kindled a desire to preserve old logs and wood harvested from the mountains many years ago. They have found endless uses for the wood remaining in these old structures.

Living in Western North Carolina, there were numerous opportunities to salvage old buildings, many of which were built prior to 1900. These buildings are constructed from chestnut, oak, poplar, pine and hemlock - as well as various other wood species native to Appalachia.

Daniel has been employed in the sawmill and furniture industry all his working life. He has a diverse knowledge of wood and a great eye for quality wood products. His understanding of antique lumber helps him identify and salvage valuable products that may be destined to be burned or buried in a landfill.

Since the beginning of their company, Daniel and Mike have worked diligently to acquire inventory and sources for their products. Raw materials are becoming scarcer as demand increases and the old structures vanish. They are always looking for more product, more sources and innovative ways to maintain their product.

Currently the company specializes in chestnut, oak and various barnwoods.
